Carbon County court - DUI

Six defendants in pending driving under the influence cases entered guilty pleas to those charges on Tuesday in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted pleas from the following:Jacob Daniel Forte, 28, of Palmerton, was arrested on Feb. 4 along Club Road in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.16 BAC.Nanovic sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $1,500 and one-year license suspension.He begins the jail term at 5 p.m. Sept. 29 and serve two days, Oct. 6, two days and Oct. 13 one day.Patrick Fitzgerald Alba, 33, of Pottstown, Montgomery County, was arrested on March 28, 2016, along Route 209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred because Alba needs a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Robert Leroy Myers II, 27, of Lehighton, was arrested on April 26, 2015, along Lower Smith Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Myers can obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Glenn A. Kucher, 56, of Collegeville, Montgomery County, was arrested on June 16 along Old Stage Road at Route 93 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.A first offense, he was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.Rodolfo Zelaya, 63, of Palmerton, was arrested on Sept. 10, 2016, along Fireline Road in Bowmanstown by state police at Lehighton. He refused a blood test.Sentencing was deferred because Zelaya needs a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.August Eli Harsch, 27, of Saylorsburg, pleaded to driving under suspension - DUI related. He was arrested on Feb. 11 by state police at Lehighton along Forest Inn Road in Lower Towamensing Township.Sentencing was deferred.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
