Blue Mountain Health System will offer a community education program on cholesterol at 1 p.m. Sept. 28 in the community room at the Gnaden Huetten campus, 211 N. 12th St. in Lehighton.
Heart disease may be the leading killer of men and women, but that doesn't mean you can't protect yourself. Nancy Matyas, MS, RDN, LDN, will do a cooking demo and talk about which foods and methods of cooking are healthiest for your heart and how to take greater control over the quality and length of your life.In addition, Michael Obert, CRNP, will discuss why cholesterol is important, how it can cause heart disease, what your cholesterol numbers mean, what affects cholesterol levels, risks, prevention and treatment. A voucher for a free cholesterol screening at a BMHS lab site will be included.Register at 610-377-7070.
