Kids run past PV

NORTHAMPTON - Northampton took the field Friday looking to avenge last week's lopsided loss to Bethlehem Catholic.

Using four different runners, including quarterback Josh Smith, Northampton established an early run game, and went on to post a 24-7 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Pleasant Valley.The Konkrete Kids jumped off to an early 10-0 start while throwing only two passes up to that point. In the first half alone, they ran the ball 28 times for a total of 125 yards."We did what we came here to do tonight, We ran the ball well," said Northampton head coach Mark Scisly.In addition to its rushing attack, Northampton also got a strong game from kicker Jason Santos, who showed off his leg in the second quarter making a 33-yard field goal look easy. Santos also drained three straight extra points.While kickers don't normally top the headlines, scoring six points for his team in a game that was tight at halftime.Running back Aiden Jones was the workhorse running back for the Konkrete Kids, gaining 96 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown.While it was a rather quiet night for the Pleasant Valley offense, quarterback Brandon Keyes still threw 14 completed passes for 130 yards.The Bear's star athlete Nasai Moon also broke free in the second quarter with a 40-yard touchdown.Northampton coach Mark Scisly was still very pleased with his defense stating, "We played good defense tonight with the exception of one big play we really shut them down."Running back Hunter Wacik joined the party scoring a 16-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach.TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE ... Pleasant Valley forced a fumble on a handoff late in the fourth quarter. The Bears recovered the fumble with less than six minutes left in the game when they were down 24-7, but couldn't capitalize.DON'T BEAT THE STREAK ... On top of the loss, Friday marked the first game since the beginning of last season where Pleasant Valley quarterback Brandon Keyes did not throw for a touchdown. Keyes had a streak of 13 straight games with at least one TD pass snapped.I JUST FELT LIKE RUNNING ... While starting the game running the ball 26 times and passing twice, Northampton's plan was clear. By the end of the game the Kids ran the ball 50 times and passed the ball only five.FOR THE RECORD ... Pleasant Valley falls to 0-3, while Northampton improves to 2-1
