Indians trounce Schuylkill Vy.

Lehighton coach Tom McCarrol said his team was "hitting on all cylinders" in its 53-21 domination of Schuylkill Valley on Friday night.

After two road victories, the Tribe (3-0) opened the home part of the schedule with am unstoppable offensive display and a lock down defense that allowed just 33 rushing yards for the entire game.Senior quarterback Cody Scherer was spectacular as he led an offense that put up 386 total yards. Scherer completed only four passes in the game, but all were for touchdowns."Spectacular" might not adequately describe the running of Lehighton's TaQuan Bradley-Chambers, who averaged 14 yards a carry and ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns. His runs drew oohs and aahs from the home crowd as he blasted through the Panther front seven and then dodged and weaved and carried tacklers on his back for extra yards that moved the chains. His 62-yard TD scamper was a display of both power and speed that will have future Lehighton opponents scratching their heads trying to figure out a way to stop him."TaQuan's talent is matched by his work ethic," said McCarroll, who praised how focused his team was from the opening kickoff."If it wasn't for my line, I wouldn't have made the runs I had tonight," said Bradley-Chambers.When asked to describe what kind of runner he is, Bradley-Chambers replied, "Like I say in practice, I'm Marshawn Lynch with his beast moves."The Indians electrified the scoreboard with 29 first-quarter points tallied in a 10-minute span. Even more impressive was the number of players that lit up the board for 46 points in the first half. Besides Bradley-Chambers, Collin Troxell, Zack Crum, Cameron Christman and Tyler Steigerwalt all found pay dirt. Throw in a 33-yard field goal by Nate Petit-Clair and you have six different players who scored points. When asked what he told his team after the onslaught, Schuylkilll Valley coach Jeff Chillot did find an appropriate message."All we can do is learn from this," said Chillot. "Early on, we made mistake after mistake and instead of slowing the game down, our brains sped up which contributed to more mistakes."But we had some nice drives against their second team and at the end of the day we are still 2-1."What benefitted Lehighton and hurt the Panthers was field position. After a short Schuylkill Valley punt, the Indians started their first drive from their opponent's 28 yard line and took just three plays to take a 6-0 lead. Their second drive began at midfield and after Bradley-Chambers moved a pile of tacklers to the Panther 27, Scherer hooked up with Troxell on a touchdown pass. On the change of possession, the Panthers failed on a fourth-down fake punt from their own 26. After a penalty moved the ball deep into the red zone, Scherer hit Crum in the corner of the end zone and the rout was on.Only after McCarroll sent in his second team did the Panthers finally move the ball.REDEMPTION ... Schuylkill Valley punter Joe Jardine failed on two fourth down run attempts that gave the Indians short TD drives but later he redeemed himself with a nice 62-yard catch and run touchdown play.CLOCK WATCH ... With all the stoppages of play and multiple kickoffs from Lehighton, the first half took an hour and a half to complete. With 74 points on the board, the game was moving into its third hour before the final horn blew and that was with the entire second half played under a running clock with the mercy rule.
