Carbon County court - Parole/probation revocation hearings

Carbon County judges conducted parole/probation revocation hearings on petitions filed by the adult probation office against defendants who violated the terms of their release.

Joyce Card, 36, of Lansford, had her parole revoked on a charge of possession of a controlled substance on petition of probation officer Clifford Eckhart for violating conditions by being charged with a new criminal offense, testing positive for a controlled substance, which violated the zero-tolerance condition.Judge Joseph J. Matika resentenced her on July 6 to serve six months in the county prison with credit for 16 days.Timothy O'Brien, 28, of Coaldale, had his parole revoked on a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to complete the alcohol highway safety program and failing to complete drug and alcohol treatment.President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II resentenced him to serve 177 days back time effective July 17 with credit for 106 days already served.Ronald Salamanca, 51, of Albrightsville, had his parole revoked on a charge of simple assault on petition of probation officer Joseph Bettine for violating conditions by not making a concerted effort to pay court costs, failing to obtain a mental health evaluation and follow recommendations, failing to complete anger management classes and failing to complete 50 hours of community service.Matika resentenced him to serve three months back time effective Dec. 1 at 9 a.m. If he completes the anger management classes, gets a mental health evaluation and pays $300 on his court costs, plus his regular monthly payments, the order will be vacated.ARD revokedThree defendants previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program by the court were revoked for violating conditions.Andrew Alvarez, 21, of Albrightsville, was revoked on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by failing to pay court costs and failing to complete 50 hours of community service.Taylor Martin, 22, of Blakeslee had his placement revoked on a charge of DUI and possession of a controlled substance on petition of Bettine for violating conditions by failing to pay court costs and failing to complete 50 hours of community service.Kyle Morales, 21, of Tamaqua, had his placed on a charge of retail theft revoked on petition of Eckhart for violating conditions by failing to report to the probation office as directed, absconded from his approved residence, failed to make payments on court costs and failing to perform 50 hours of community service.All three had their cases returned to the trial list.
