Six first-time offenders were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they will face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.Senior Judge Leonard Zito, specially presiding of Northampton County, placed the following in the program for a year, unless otherwise noted, and imposed an assessment fee for the cost of the program ranging from $450 to $650.Tyler Jon Brynok, 23, of White Haven, was placed on a driving under the influence charge. He was arrested on Jan. 16 by state police at Lehighton along Canal Street in Franklin Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.His license was suspended for 60 days.James Daniel Flores, 49, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of theft for an incident on Dec. 3, 2016, in which Franklin Township police charged him with taking metal angle stakes from the property of Cathy and William Dorward.He was placed for 6 months and ordered to make restitution of $60 to the victims and that he or any family members have no contact with the victims.Devon Alan Frey, 23, of Palmerton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Feb. 26 along Delaware Avenue by Palmerton police.His license was suspended for 60 days.Kelly E. Lee Smith,22, of Weissport, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Aug. 25, 2016, by Palmerton police along Mauch Chunk Road. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC. Her license was suspended for 60 days.Tyler Behler,19, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge for a controlled substance. He was arrested on Feb. 11 along Route 209 by Lehighton police. His license was suspended for 90 days.John Reppert,28, of Lehighton, was placed on a simple assault charge. He was arrested on May 17 by Lehighton police for assaulting a female in the area of100 North First Street. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program. Those charged with DUI must also follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
