Two plead guilty in Carbon

Two Carbon County residents in pending criminal cases entered guilty pleas on Thursday before Judge Steven R. Serfass - one to resisting arrest and the second defendant to persistent disorderly conduct - separate incidents.

Palmerton incidentKyle Hinchman, 21, of Palmerton, pleaded to the resisting charge which stems from an incident on June 25 in the area ofChurch Street, Palmerton. Police responded to a report of a woman being assaulted. On scene, officers observed a male, later identified as Hinchman, dragging a female into a residence. As officers approached the man he fled on foot. He was later caught. Police had to use substantial force to take Hinchman into custody.Serfass place him on probation for 24 months and ordered him to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 100 hours of community service.Jim Thorpe incidentKimberly A. Molle, 44, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to the conduct charge.On Feb. 12 Jim Thorpe police responded to the The Inn at Jim Thorpe, 24 Broadway, for a report of an assault.On scene, officers learned that Molle became combative after learning she was being terminated from her position at the inn.Police said Molle got into an altercation with another employee which led to a simple assault charged, which was dropped in a plea bargain.Molle told Serfass she became involved in the altercation with the other employee because she believed that employee was instrumental in her losing her job.Molle is currently in the county prison serving a probation violation term which runs until September.Serfass sentenced her to serve 6 to 12 months in prison running concurrent with her probation violation term. She was also ordered to render 50 hours of community service when paroled and have no contact with the victim.Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
