July 16-22 is Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision week across the nation.

This year's theme is "Clients, Employees, and Communities - Power through Partnerships."During the week, people across the United States will join together to recognize the work that probation, parole and community supervision professionals perform for the public's safety.Today in America, pretrial, probation and parole officers monitor over 5 million adults and juveniles on community supervision.Carbon County's Adult and Juvenile Probation departments supervise approximately 2,000 people.Monitoring and supervision take several forms including home contacts, drug testing, ensuring that offenders attend counseling sessions, and helping offenders find suitable housing and employment.Officers utilize targeted interventions which facilitate positive behavioral change.Carbon County's officers continue to implement new innovative evidence-based strategies to monitor their offenders.Forging partnerships with community partners and stakeholders is a prime strategy employed to improve community supervision in the face of ever-present budget challenges at all levels of government.Working together with community partners and stakeholders provides for greater opportunities for those under supervision by offering resources and needed support in finding employment opportunities, housing and treatment.By collaborating with community leaders, these dedicated officers make a difference for their offenders and in their communities.Members of our community are encouraged to join together during Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week to honor those who provide vital services to make Carbon County a safer place to live.
