Freeland man arrested in Tamaqua

A Freeland man landed in prison on July 3 after his actions brought him to the attention of Tamaqua police.

Officers on patrol saw Eric Kuklinski, 30, walking in an erratic manner in the downtown area at 5:30 p.m. They approached him and asked a few questions. Kuklinski said he was unfamiliar with the area and was just visiting with his girlfriend, Nicole. He did not know her last name or where she lived. As he was talking with the officers, he was very jittery. He agreed to be searched. In one pocket of his cargo pants, officers found an aluminum foil packet containing 11 baggies with the word "timeout" stamped on them and another baggie containing a white substance. He also had a wallet with the identification and other cards with the name Enrico Affato; two credit cards in the names of Maxan N. Benfield and Geoffery Bradford; and two prescriptions for Lisa Cope.He couldn't explain how he came to be in possession of most of those items but claimed to have "just found the wallet."A records check determined there was an outstanding bench warrant for his arrest issued by Luzerne County officials. He was taken to the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville and faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
