'Fridays in Lansford' to begin this week

Lansford Alive, in conjunction with the No. 9 Mine and Museum, and the Lansford Historical Society, recently began a program to attract more visitors to Lansford.

"Fridays in Lansford" is a tourist initiative to bring people from out of the area that tour the No. 9 mine to spend the day in Lansford and see some of the attractions the town has to offer.A major part of this initiative is the opening of the Lansford Historical Society museum on Fridays, which is an excellent complement to the No. 9 Mine and Museum.Visitors are welcome to tour the historical society museum, which will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning Friday. The museum is located at 117 E. Bertsch St.To help promote events and other attractions, an informational rack card was designed and will be distributed throughout the area. The card focuses on key events taking place on Fridays, as well as events throughout the summer and fall.Take a self-guided tour using the map to see the town's many historic buildings and churches.Another focus is to shop small at some of the retail stores downtown, including thefarmers' produce market at Ridge and Tunnel streets.Fridays in Lansford will run from June through October.Lansford Alive President Christopher Ondrus said, "We hope to attract visitors from out of the area to see some of the history of Lansford and spend the day in town."It is also a benefit to work together with the No. 9 Mine and Museum and Lansford Historical Society in an effort to promote tourism in the area," Ondrus said."Both organizations came together with us to make this happen"For more information, contact
