Tamaqua district Court

Two men appeared in the court of District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer of Tamaqua on May 30 to answer to charges in multiple criminal cases.

Jerry Joseph Feathers, 36, of Tamaqua, waived all three of his scheduled preliminary hearings to the county court level. Two of the cases were from the same day.Feathers was charged with simple assault and harassment by Tamaqua patrolman Timothy Walsh and with making terroristic threats and harassment by Tamaqua patrolman Michael Hobbs, all on May 21.He was then charged with simple assault and harassment on May 22 by Tamaqua patrolman Thomas Rodgers.In the first case, bail was set at $7,500 percentage, while the second case saw bail set at $10,000 percentage.The third case resulted in bail being set at $50,000 straight.Feathers was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of bail.Daniel J. Dannenfelser, 42, of Tamaqua, waived his hearings in two cases.He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia by Tamaqua patrolman Rick Bekesy on Jan. 30 and with the same possession charge on Feb. 1, filed by Tamaqua Police Chief Richard Weaver.He was released on his own recognizance in the January case while bail was set at $5,000 percentage in the February case.Unable to post bond, Dannenfelser was returned to the Schuylkill County Prison.Keith Daniel Neff, 34, of Tamaqua, elected to have his case heard by Bayer ending up with one charge dismissed and the other two held for county court.Neff was charged with possession of liquefied ammonia with intent to manufacture a controlled substance, possession of red phosphorous with intent to manufacture a controlled substance and operating a methamphetamine lab.The charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Christian DeAngelo following a Sept. 21, 2016, incident.The operating charge was dismissed while the possession charges were upheld.Neff was returned to the county prison in lieu of $10,000 percentage bail.Two defendants had their cases moved to nontraffic citations.Leonard Michael Ruggerio Jr., 25, of Coaldale, had a charge of simple assault withdrawn and a charge of harassment moved to a nontraffic citation. He was charged by Coaldale patrolman Joseph David after a May 6 incident.Jayson Delgado-Ortiz, 33, of Reading, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and driving with an obstructed window.The charges stem from a March 25 incident and were filed by McAdoo patrolman Frederick Lahovski.The drug charges were withdrawn while the other two were moved.
