Carbon man admits to corruption, drug counts

A Carbon County entered guilty pleas late last week to one count each of corruption of a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia in exchange for having felony charges dropped.

Jordan Daniel Trotta, 24, of Lehighton, pleaded to the charges before Judge Joseph J. Matika.The corruption charge occurred on July 12, 2016, filed by state police at Lehighton and involved a 17-year-old female as the listed victim. The corruption count, in plea bargain with the district attorney's office, was not of a sexual nature.In exchange for that plea, the district attorney's office agreed to drop charges of photograph/film/depict on computer sex act - knowingly or permitting child and a count of child pornography, both felonies.The drug count stems from an incident on the same date in the parking lot of Long John Silvers restaurant in Mahoning Township filed by township police.A cellular phone was found at that location, with text message of a sexual nature. In exchange for the plea charges possession of a controlled substance, corruption of minors and public drunkenness were dropped.Trotta admitted to a drug addiction problem and said the instant arrest was a "scared straight" moment for him. He said he has gotten help for his addiction problem.Matika placed him on probation for a year on the corruption count and six months on the drug charge, with the terms running consecutively. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, render a total of 75 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
