Brown seeks nomination for register of wills seat

Connie Brown of Palmerton has announced her candidacy for register of wills/clerks of orphan's court. A lifelong Carbon County Democrat, she is seeking her party's nomination in the May 16 primary.

Brown currently holds the elected position as tax collector for Lower Towamensing Township, a full-time position for a prominent attorney in Carbon County for over 23 years and her notary license for more than 20 years.Brown believes it will be a smooth transition because of the experiences she has achieved, her vast knowledge of the many aspects of the job, including terminations, adoptions, incapacitations, guardianships and probates, "as I currently prepare many of the documents necessary for the processing of the workings in the register's office. I will be following Judy Moon's position in the 'coming to you' if the need arises."Connie belongs to Sacred Heart Church of Palmerton, where she served as a CCD teacher and secretary for St. John Neumann School. She is a member of the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, East Penn Sporting Club and the Orioles in Lehighton."As a youngster, it was instilled in me by my parents, the late Millard 'Sonny' and JoAnne Ritter, the understanding, appreciation and dedication of hard work, and the belief of 'never forget where you came from.' My parents were dedicated volunteers in many organizations, the fire company was their most rewarding." She said, "I have a soft spot, for the dedicated, volunteer firemen and women. It is a very special person who takes the risk of their own life at each call."Brown and her husband, Michael Davis, are dedicated to the rescuing of homeless dogs and cats. "We have been blessed, so far, with seven dogs and four cats, each of which comes with their own personality, story and unconditional love."Brown is the mother of Robert R. Brown Jr. and Gregory A. Brown and has five grandchildren.
