Carbon men admit to theft, disorderly conduct

An Albrightsville man pleaded guilty to a theft charge and a Palmerton man to conduct charges on Monday in Carbon County court.

Nanovic II accepted the pleas.Beltzville incidentJohn Joseph Nuzzo, 21, pleaded to a theft incident at Beltzville State Park in Lower Towamensing Township.Park rangers charged Nuzzo with having in his possession a cellphone which an 11-year-old juvenile had left in the men's room at the park. Nuzzo found the phone but never attempted to return it to the owner. The incident occurred on June 22, 2016.Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.DUI droppedAndrew Paul Jasso, 57, of Palmerton, pleaded to two counts of disorderly conduct, as summary offenses. In exchange for the plea, three counts of driving under the influence were dropped by the district attorney's office.Jasso was arrested on April 1, 2016, by Palmerton police along Princeton Avenue. He submitted to a blood test with the result being 0.09 BAC. He was unruly at the traffic stop, which led to the conduct charges.Nanovic imposed a fine of $300 on each count and ordered restitution of $382.21 to the borough of Palmerton for the cost of the blood test.Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and Nuzzo a supervision fee of $50 per month during his probation period.
