Twelve first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete the program, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Big forfeitureCorey Christer Hamilton, 21, of Maple Shade, New Jersey, was placed on two counts driving under the influence of a controlled substance, and one count each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on Nov. 23by state police at Lehighton along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township. Also found in the vehicle was a large amount of cash.He was assessed $600 for the cost of the program and ordered to forfeit the $10,000 in cash found in the vehicle, and his license was suspended for 60 days.Other placementsJohn Sterling Ashford Jr., 29, of Wilkes-Barre, was placed on a charge of possession of a controlled substance - cocaine. He was arrested on Nov. 23by state police at Lehighton following a vehicle stop along Maury Road in Penn Forest Township.He was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and render 40 hours of community service.Michael Joseph Bair, 31, of Albrightsville, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Nov. 5along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.09 BAC.He was assessed $450.Quinn Miles Boswell, 23, of Albrightsville, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on June 12along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.24 BAC.He was assessed $550 and his license was suspended for 60 days.Nathaniel Allen George, 25, of Palmerton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Aug. 13along Spruce Hollow Road in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.18 BAC.He was assessed $550 and his license was suspended for 60 days.Teresa Hubbard, 40, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Oct. 18along Route 2015 by Franklin Township police. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC.She was assessed $550 and her license was suspended for 60 days.Kevin John Kelly, 29, of Albrightsville, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Dec. 17along Old Stage Road in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.14 BAC.He was assessed $500 and his license was suspended for 30 days.Caroline Michele Nannay, 39, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a charge of fraud - obtaining food stamps/assistance when not eligible. She was charged by the district attorney on information received from the department of public welfare.She was assessed $450 and ordered to make restitution to the state for $2,006.10.Sadie Rae O'Donnell, 19, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Oct. 19at Ochre Street and Route 209 by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She was assessed $550 and her license was suspended for 90 days.Daniel Eberhard Sauerzopf, 27, of Sarasota, Florida, was placed for six months on an identity theft charge. He was arrested on July 1, 2015, by Palmerton police for using a credit cardwithoutthe victim's permission.He was assessed $650 and ordered to make restitution in an amount to be determined by the adult probation office.Kelly Lyn Yerance, 38, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Sept. 24along Bridge Street by Lehighton police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.She was assessed $600 and her license was suspended for 60 days.Jessica Elizabeth Zinno, 25, of Palmerton, was placed for six months on a charge of possession of marijuana. She was arrested on Dec. 26by Palmerton police following a traffic stop along Route 248.She was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program and those charged with DUI, must follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
