Defendant in drug case pleads guilty

Another defendant in a drug roundup which was labeled "Operation 93 Pipeline" entered a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass on Tuesday in Carbon County court on Tuesday.

Joshua Ynoe Mejia, 25, of Hazleton, pleaded to one count of criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance - heroin.He was one of 11 defendants arrested in a drug trafficking ring. The name given the operation was because authorities said the defendants would go to the Luzerne County area and get heroin then return to Carbon, using Route 93.Arrested with Mejia were Matteo Puddu, Curtis Margle, Jason R. Will, David A. Anthony and Brittany Michele Vincent, all of Carbon County; Erik Feliz, Bradesky Santos Jr., Anthony Jordan Vega, all of Luzerne County; Cynthia Ann Hippenstiel of Columbia County; and Robert Alan Fox of Bucks County.The state Attorney General's office, along with the Carbon County Drug Task Force, charged the 11 for their part in a drug trafficking operation allegedly responsible for distributing $1.5 million worth of heroin in Carbon County over a four-month period. The time frame for the operation was December 2014 to March 2015.Several other defendants in the case have pleaded guilty and have been sentenced.Sentencing was deferred as Serfass ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
