Carbon County court - DUI

Six defendants who previously pleaded guilty to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Monday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika imposed sentences on the following:Amy S. Burns, 35, of Harrisburg, and formerly of Lansford, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, render 25 hours of community service, and upon her release from prison must enter a long-term inpatient rehabilitation program.She was arrested on May 16along Route 443 in Mahoning Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Burns had entered the Salvation Army inpatient program but left before completing it. She is an inmate in the county prison facing a probation violation for leaving the program early. She was given credit for 72 hours spent in jail on the DUI count and paroled, but will remain an inmate pending disposition of the violation petition filed by the adult probation office.Chad Michael Eschbach, 36, of Lansford, was sentenced to serve 30 days in the county prison followed by 59 months in the Intermediate Punishment Program with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. He was also ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, render 100 hours of community service and zero tolerance imposed on drug and alcohol use.He was arrested on April 6, 2016, along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East by Mahoning Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He will begin serving the 30 days on April 7 at 8 p.m. and serve it on 15 consecutive weekends.Gina Marie McGinley, 50, of Tamaqua, was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, a fine of $300, her license was suspended for a year, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render a total of 50 hours of community service. On a resisting arrest charge she was placed on probation for a year, concurrent with the DUI count.She was arrested on July 13along Route 902 by Summit Hill police. She refused a blood test.She was given credit for four days spent in jail on the charge. She will begin serving the fifth day on April 2 at 2 p.m.John Michael Green, 46, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, his license was suspended for a year and he must render 25 hours of community service.He was arrested on May 23, 2015, by state police at Lehighton along Route 209 in Franklin Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He will begin his jail term at 6 p.m. March 31.Heather Marie Shane, 42, of Wilkes-Barre, was placed on probation for six months, pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.She was arrested on Jan. 10, 2015, along Plane Street by Weatherly police. A test revealed a 0.30 BAC.Daniel Adam Kopey, 32, of South Williamsport, was placed on probation for six months, ordered to pay a fine of $300 and must render 25 hours of community service.He was stopped on Sept. 18in Kidder Township. A test revealed a 0.19 BAC.Joseph Michael Sgrignioli, 46, of Palmyra, Lebanon County, was placed on probation for six months, ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.He was arrested on July 30along Lake Harmony Drive in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed a 0.17 BAC.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee and follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
