Ballot spots realigned in Lehighton district race

The ballot positions for elective races in the Lehighton Area School District on May 19 changed this week.

Four people who previously sought to win Democratic and Republican nominations for the two-year term of office withdrew. Two candidates also withdrew their names on the ballots for the four-year terms that are available. Originally, 13 people were seeking the two-year term. But withdrawals of Gloria J. Bowman, Duane R. Eidem, Stephen L. Holland and Stacey Lynn Duerst changed that number to nine candidates.David L. Krause and Larry E. Stern also removed their names from the ballots for the four-year terms, changing the number of candidates on both tickets for four-year terms to 11.Although ballot positions were already decided by the Carbon County Elections Board, the board at that time ruled that if anyone would withdraw, as had been indicated, their places on the ballot would simply be filled by the candidates that followed them numerically. As such, the new ballot positions are as follows:Two-year termDemocrats: 1.
