DUI charges in Schuylkill

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 2:11 p.m. Wednesday along Long Run Road in Wayne Township.

Distracted by cellphone:State police at Schuylkill Haven said Susan M. Rochford, 33, of Port Carbon, was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram truck westbound when she became distracted by her cellphone. Rochford lost control of the truck which left the road and struck a utility pole head-on. Troopers said Rochford sustained a minor injury but did not require medical attention. She was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. The DUI charge is pending test results, troopers said.Driving erratically:McAdoo police cited James Cieniawa, 57, of McAdoo following a traffic stop on Sept. 25.An officer on patrol at 8:16 p.m. saw a white Oldsmobile being driven erratically on East Blaine Street. He stopped the car and identified the driver as Cieniawa. A strong odor of alcohol came from inside the Olds and the driver showed several signs of intoxication.He was given, and failed, field sobriety tests, earning him a citation for driving under the influence of alcohol.Cited after traffic stop:A Hazleton man was cited by McAdoo police after a traffic stop on Oct. 9.Delvi Duran, 39, was stopped at 2 a.m. on Kennedy Drive. There was a strong odor of alcohol on him as he spoke to the officer. Duran admitted to drinking earlier in the day and was asked to complete field sobriety tests. He failed the tests and was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol.Ashland driver stopped:A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident that occurred at 9:22 p.m. Saturday in Ashland borough.State police at Frackville said Leroy P. Arthur, 51, of Ashland was stopped and found to be under the influence. He was taken to the barracks for a breath test which indicated he was above the legal limit of 0.08 BAC, troopers said. Arthur will also be charged with driving under suspension.
