Driver escapes injury in West Penn crash

A driver escaped injury Wednesday afternoon when involved in a crash along Route 895 in West Penn township. The crash occurred just before 4 p.m. as the unit was traveling west about two miles west of Route 309. For some unknown reason the sport utility vehicle entered the right berm impacting with and snapping off a utility pole. The vehicle continued across the lawn stopping just short of striking a home. The driver was not hurt. The unit sustained extensive front end damage. West Penn fire police maintained traffic control at the scene. West Penn township police are investigating the incident.
