Ten first-time offenders were recently placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.Mustafa Alonzo Clark, 23, of Albrightsville, was placed on a driving under the influence charge. He was arrested on Dec. 25, 2015, along Route 903 in Lake Harmony by Kidder Township police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 for the cost of the program and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.Calvin D. Cederborg, 30, of Sheppton, Schuylkill County, was placed for two years on a reckless burning charge. He was arrested on Aug. 17, 2015, by Nesquehoning police for setting a garage on fire in the area of 329 W. Catawissa St.He was assessed $650 and ordered to render 100 hours of community service and make total restitution of $5,500 for damages.Mario Garcia-Velez, 25, of Fishers, Indiana, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on April 19 along Interstate 80 in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.Lindsay Ann Gombert, 31, of Summit Hill, was placed on a possession of a controlled substance charge. She was arrested on Feb. 26 by Summit Hill police along Summit Avenue.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, and zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.Seth M. Krynock, 20, of Summit Hill, was placed on a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon. He was arrested on March 3 by Lansford police.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Michael Hunter Osmanski, 20, of Laurel Run, Luzerne County, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Jan. 1 along Route 940 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.025 BAC.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 90 days.Susan Rosario Paredes, 32, of Jamaica, New York, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on May 29 by state police at Fern Ridge along Lake Drive in Kidder Township. A test revealed a 0.09 BAC.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.Samantha Lynn Shellhamer, 22, of Tamaqua, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on March 24 by Lansford police at Springgarden Street and Route 902. No BAC was listed in the police report.She was assessed $550 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 60 days.Mark William Updike, 44, of Nesquehoning, was placed on a criminal trespass charge. He was arrested on July 8 by Nesquehoning police for an incident in the area of 444 Lake Drive, Lake Hauto.He was assessed $450 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and have no contact with the victims.Samson Zachary Walton, 22, of Weatherly, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on May 14 along Oak Alley by Weatherly police. A test revealed a 0.15 BAC.He was assessed $500 and ordered to render 50 hours of community service and license suspended for 30 days.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
