Russell and Joan Miller

Russell and Joan (Creitz) Miller of Franklin Township recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

They were married on Aug. 6, 1966, by the late Rev. John Diehl, minister of All Saints Episcopal Church, Lehighton.Russell is the son of the late Russell and Pauline Miller.Joan is the daughter of Willard and Dorothy Creitz of Lehighton. Her parents celebrated their 72nd anniversary on April 1.The Millers have one daughter, Sherry, wife of Michael Rose of Coplay. They celebrated their 25th anniversary on Oct. 27.The couple also has two grandchildren, Emily, who will be a junior at Bloomsburg University; and Bennett, who will be a senior at Parkland High School.A celebration in the couple's honor was held at Mahoning Valley Country Club and hosted by their family. Over 100 family members and friends attended. The room was decorated by their daughter and granddaughter.The Millers renewed their wedding vows during a ceremony officiated by Joseph Mustacchio. They exchanged new wedding bands and seven original members of their wedding party were in attendance, including the flower girl, Denise (Mustacchio) Polzer; junior bridesmaid, Debbie (Neff) Biery); bridesmaids, Carol (Bucks) Shestok and Brenda (Kershner) Graham; and ushers, Gerald Roth, Glenn Buskirk and Curtis Bredbenner.In addition to a party in their honor, the Millers commemorated their anniversary with a trip to the Hawaiian island, spending three days in Oahu before a seven-day cruise on Norwegian Lines.
