Lehighton man admits to break-in at restaurant

A Lehighton man admitted to a felony burglary charge on Thursday in Carbon County court involving entry into a county restaurant.

He wasentered a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass.Michael Chase Slater-Trine, 19, formerly of Jim Thorpe, admitted breaking into the Encore Restaurant at 66 Broadway, Jim Thorpe, on March 9, 2015, and stealing four bottles of liquor.Slater-Trine is currently serving a six- to 18-month county prison term in another case imposed by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic on April 25.The defendant told Serfass he had a drug addiction problem but was addressing it while in jail.Serfass sentenced him to serve six to one day less 24 months in prison followed by one year of probation. He was also ordered to supply a DNA sample, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and render 100 hours of community service when release on parole.The prison term runs concurrent with sentence imposed on April 25.
