Studio offers something for everyone

Have clay, will hand build.

Such is the case at the newly revamped Clay Works Studio located in the Tamaqua Community Art Center.The studio, complete with pottery and ceramics, was revamped in April, according to instructor Irene Miller."It's everything you want a studio to be," Miller said. "When you come in, you feel like you want to work."A brand-new blaze bar is among the new features inside, Miller said.Miller said there are a variety of workshops open to the public."We want to bring everyone in, make everything simple enough that everyone can take part," she said. "We want everyone to enjoy it."Miller said the clay is purchased by the center.She also said the studio relies on donations.To date the feedback has been very positive."We're happy with the reception," she said. "We want positive things happening."A Pick & Paint ceramic workshop will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.For $20, participants can pick four small pieces, two medium pieces or one large piece. The items will be painted with acrylic paint.To participate in the workshop, register at
