Crashes investigated by Lehighton State Police

State police at Lehighton reported investigating three crashes recently on area roads.

A three-vehicle crash was reported at 5:45 p.m. July 8 along Route 115 at the entrance to the Gateway Motel in Ross Township.Troopers said Esther W. Kimani, 47, of Lynn, Massachusetts, driving a 2016 GMC Yukon, was pulling out of a lot at the motel onto the southbound lane of 115 and pulled in front of a 2006 Toyota Corolla operated by Matthew J. Turko, 25, of Pen Argyl, who was southbound.Turko applied his brakes, but due to the wet roadway, his vehicle slid into the northbound lane where it made slight contact with the driver side rear bumper of the Yukon, causing minor damages.As the Corolla entered the northbound lane, it hit the front end of a 2003 Ford Explorer driven by Linda S. DeHaven, 65, of Saylorsburg.The impact caused the Corolla to spin around 180 degrees and come to rest on an embankment near the entrance to the motel.Two passengers with Turko, Adrianna R. McQueen, 27, and a 3-year-old female, both of Stroudsburg, and DeHaven, were all taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance and St. Luke's EMS unit. Kimani, an adult and four juvenile passengers were not injured. Kimani was cited for the crash.A one-vehicle crash occurred around 6 a.m. July 8 along Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County. Taylor M. Amey, 21, of Bowmanstown was driving a Ford Aspire eastbound when she went onto the south shoulder and struck a curb causing the Ford to cross both travel lanes to the north shoulder, where it struck a concrete median with the front end.Amey was not injured but her vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and was towed.She was cited for the crash.A one-vehicle crash was reported at 6:32 p.m. Tuesday along Route 248 at the exit ramp to Bank Street in Bowmanstown. Clair M. Ginder, 74, of Walnutport, was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra westbound at a high rate of speed and attempting to exit the road when he lost control.The GMC traveled north through the westbound shoulder, striking an exit sign. After impact the vehicle continued north onto the exit ramp with Ginder overcorrecting, causing the vehicle to swerve onto the left shoulder of the ramp.The vehicle hit the guide rail, causing it to flip one time onto the driver's side, where it came to rest across the exit ramp facing south.Ginder was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by volunteers from the Bowmanstown Fire Company.Ginder was taken by Palmerton ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. Damages were heavy to the front end of the GMC, which was towed.Troopers cited Ginder for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
