Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met June 28 at the Ryan Township Fire Company in Barnesville with 44 members in attendance. The business session was conducted by President Bill Morrison, who provided the invocation "May Angels Watch Over You."Three new members were welcomed to the group - Lucille Spaar, Sharon Haldeman and Donald Miller.Morrison reviewed the history of the group and updates to the bylaws and membership.Karen Garber and Spaar were the birthday celebrants for June, while Mr. and Mrs. Donald Miller were congratulated on their 41st wedding anniversary.Upcoming events include the annual summer picnic on July 26 at St. Peter's grove in Locust Valley and a Nov. 15 visit to Samson-Lancaster.Refreshments were served.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the fire company. The next meeting will be held July 12. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.BloodmobileAn American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Tamaqua from 1-6 p.m. July 13 at the Salvation Army Community Center, 105 W. Broad St.Anyone 17 or older, in good general health, who weighs at least 110 pounds is eligible to donate blood. The concert will also feature the Junior Cressona Band.The second performance will be held at 7 p.m. July 20 at the East End Playground on Mountain Avenue in Tamaqua. This show will feature show tunes, overtures, marching tunes and more.
