Walker supervisor seat filled

An empty seat on Walker Township's board of supervisors has been filled.

On a 2-0 vote, supervisors last week appointed Christine Troxell to the post. The board met June 30, one week earlier than it usually does. As a result, it canceled the meeting that was originally scheduled for this Thursday.Troxell was among seven candidates who submitted letters of interest for the position, according to township secretary Dana Brubaker. The appointment of Troxell comes after former Supervisor Leonard Ostergaard resigned last month.Supervisors said at that time Ostergaard, who also served on the township's planning commission, turned in his resignation letter after the board's meeting in May.Ostergaard, who was asked to reconsider resigning but declined, left for personal reasons, supervisors said. The owner of Heisler's Cloverleaf Dairy, Ostergaard was appointed to the board in February 2014.He took over to fill the seat that had been occupied by former Supervisor Dave Price, who tendered his resignation to the board, effective Jan. 31, 2014.
