A Carbon County man admitted to an incident involving his grandmother in a domestic dispute.

He was one of four defendants to enter a guilty plea before Judge Steven R. Serfass on Tuesday.Jim Thorpe incidentJared McGuire, 21, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded guilty to one count each of resisting arrest and persistent disorderly conduct. A charge of simple assault was dropped in a plea agreement.McGuire was arrested for an incident on March 4 when Jim Thorpe police had to respond to a West Broadway residence for a domestic dispute. On scene officers learned that McGuire got into an altercation with his grandmother. When police attempted to place him under arrest, he struggled with the officers who had to use force to get handcuffs on him.McGuire told Serfass, "That wasn't me that night. I have patched up my relationship with my grandmother."McGuire also told Serfass he was receiving drug and alcohol counseling.On the resisting count he was placed on probation for 24 months and on the conduct count for 12 months with the terms running concurrently.He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, follow recommended treatment and serve 150 hours of community service.Other pleasOther defendants entering guilty pleas included:Greg D. Vandermartin, 30, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of furnishing a drug-free urine.Vandermartin appeared at the adult probation office in the courthouse in Jim Thorpe on March 18 for a scheduled urine screen. He attempted to use a device to provide a false urine screen to avoid violating a condition of his release of not using illegal drugs.Vandermartin told Serfass, "I'm sorry for what I did. I was afraid of going back to jail."Serfass responded, "You better get your act together before you spiral out of control."Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered he get a D & A evaluation, zero tolerance for D & A use and render 50 hours of community service.Amanda Jane Hosier, 32, of Weissport, pleaded to one count of retail theft.She was arrested on March 31 by Palmerton police at the Family Dollar Store at 545 Delaware Ave., where she stole various items.Serfass placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to render 50 hours of community service. There was no restitution since all the items were recovered.All defendants sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
