Carbon County court - DUI

Seven defendants entered guilty pleas Tuesday in Carbon County court to driving under the influence charges. Judge Joseph J. Matika accepted pleas from the following:

Aubrey Lloyd Sledzinski, 61, of Camp Hill, was arrested on Feb. 12 along Lake Drive in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.13 BAC.Matika sentenced him to serve 15 days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one-year license suspension, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 25 hours of community service.He will serve the prison term on consecutive five-day increments on July 1, 8 and 15, starting at 9 a.m. each time.Kenneth Hibbler, 40, of Tamaqua, was arrested on Dec. 10, 2015, along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East by Mahoning Township police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Matika sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. He was given credit for four days spent in jail on the charge and was paroled. Hibbler is in the county prison on a probation violation petition filed by the adult probation office.Andy Nelson McCoy, 39, of Kunkletown, and formerly of Lehighton, was arrested on July 15, 2015, along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East by Mahoning Township police. He refused a blood test. A charge of resisting arrest was dropped in a plea agreement.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation and also apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program-house arrest.Michelle Lee Yurkanin, 29, of Hazleton, was arrested on Nov. 15, 2014, along Route 93 by Nesquehoning police who found her vehicle in a ditch near the county prison entrance road.Sentencing was deferred so Yurkanin could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation. Currently in custody, it was noted she is facing a probation violation charge in Luzerne County.Charles Lamar Harris, 40, of Williamsport, was arrested on Feb. 21 along Interstate 80 westbound in East Side Borough by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Joshua Jason Miccicke, 21, of Palmerton, was arrested on Oct. 30, 2015, along West Amidon Street by Summit Hill police. A test showed 0.21 BAC.Matika sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one-year license suspension, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use and render 25 hours of community service. On a stop sign violation he was fined $25 and costs.He will serve the prison term beginning at 6 p.m. June 24 for three days and at 6 p.m. July 1 for two days.Miguel Angel Colon-Banks, 22, of Philadelphia, was arrested on June 14, 2014, at the intersection of Route 940 at the turnpike entrance ramp in Kidder Township by state police at the Pocono barracks. A test showed 0.12 BAC. Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
