Union Publick House to host fund raiser for Stone Row

Jim Thorpe's Union Publick House on 212 Center Street will host a fund raising event tonight and Tuesday night from 5 to 9 p.m., for the staff of Stone Row Pub and Eatery.

The restaurant located on Race Street has sustained damage after a fire broke out at 2 a.m., Thursday June 23. Area fire companies had responded to the call in the historic district.

According to the owner Charlie Sproule, "the building has extensive smoke damage and every window is broken. We have to close for a few weeks to clean up the mess. The good news is everyone is safe because our smoke alarms were doing their job."

Union Publick House will be donating 20 percent of the food sales to be distributed among Stone Row's staff with owners matching the amount raised. Stone Row's bartenders will be guest bartending during the fund raiser.

"Serious thanks to UPH for this. The hospitality of this town has been truly amazing," said Stone Row bartender Jakky Johnson.

Local musicians will be on hand to entertain the crowd during this event.

"We are truly appreciative of all the community support we've been receiving. We're already in the process of re-building and also concentrating on taking care of our staff so they have an income until we reopen," said Sproule.
