Cornea transplant recipient Darlene Redline of Jim Thorpe views a "Threads of Love" memorial quilt at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jim Thorpe recently. The quilt, which honors local organ and tissue donors, was displayed as part of Gift of Life Donor Program presentations at both St. John's and Dinkey Memorial Lutheran Church in Ashfield. Redline, a member of St. John's, has received three cornea transplants because of an eye condition called keratoconus. More than 40,000 cornea transplants are performed each year in the U.S. and older donors up to age 75 are able to donate corneas for transplant to save or restore someone's eyesight. CONTRIBUTED PHOTO
