Trail hikes planned

Two events have been scheduled for Swatara State Park by Naturalist Robin Tracey from Tuscarora State Park.

The first hike is on Saturdayand is 8 miles in length and moderate. The trail runs parallel to Swatara Creek and a fossil bed. The hike will go down to Bordner cabin and crossing the new bridge across Swatara Creek.Participants will meet in the parking lot on Swopes Valley Road, just off Route 443, in Suedberg at 10:30 a.m.Tracey will lead another hike at Swatara State Park on Wednesday. The trail is 5 miles in length and easy. The hike will go along the Lebanon Reservoir and along an old railroad bed.Participants will meet off Route 443 in Suedberg on Swopes Valley Road at 10 a.m. and carpool to the site where the hike will begin at 10:30 a.m.Dogs are welcome for both hikes but must be leashed and get along with other pets and people.Call Tracey for more information at 570-467-2506.
