Marian FBLA students in top 10

Four members of the Marian Catholic chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America placed in the top 10 in the 2016 Pennsylvania FBLA State Leadership Conference held in April in Hershey. They will now advance to the FBLA National Conference, which will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 29 to July 2.

Advancing to the national event are Michael Witczak of Summit Hill, Aaron Srinivasan of Conyngham and Henry Kreisl of West Hazleton, placing fifth in the Global Business event; and Tyler Wackley of Schuylkill Haven, who placed third in the Impromptu Speaking category.Marian's chapter, which has 97 members representing 27 percent of the school's enrollment, received a fourth place award for Local Market Share.Other Marian students attending the state conference were: Nicholas Kubishin of Drums, competing in Accounting I; Teague Schmidt of Tamaqua in Agribusiness; Joseph Maguschak of Hazleton and Michael Ecker of Quakake, team event of Emerging Business Issues; Megan Ferrello of Sugarloaf, Business Communication; Emily Meier of New Ringgold, Introduction to Business Communication; Kaitlin Kowker of Frackville, Insurance and Risk Management; Abby Pilla of Lake Hauto, Word Processing; Nikki Kline of Freeland and Cindy Kline of Mahanoy City, attended the conference as members at large.More than 4,000 advisers, guests, students, and business professionals participated in this year's annual state leadership conference.Pennsylvania Ronald McDonald Houses, recipient of this year's state project, was given a monetary contribution to be used toward the organization's programs in Pennsylvania during an awards ceremony. Other highlights of the conference included individual, chapter, and team competitive events relating to business skills and leadership; the election of a new state officer team; leadership development workshops; and recognition of members' community service efforts across the commonwealth.
