Woman gets probation in theft case

A Nesquehoning woman was placed on a long probation period on Monday after previously pleaded guilty to a theft count.

Tara Hertzog, 31, was placed on probation for two years by Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass on a charge of theft. She was charged by Lehighton police for an incident on Feb. 6, 2015.Hertzog told the court she has health problems and is seeing two physicians for those problems. She said, "I apologize for everything. It hurt my family and it hurt me."Hertzog has several prior criminal convictions involving drugs.Serfass ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render 100 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
