Nesquehoning: The Memorial Day weekend will kick off for the Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 and Auxiliary with a joint installation of officers at 6 p.m. onMay 27at the post home. All officers are requested to be present.Saylorsburg: A Memorial weekend concert and dinner featuring patriotic ladies' duo "Letters From Home" will be hosted by Mount Eaton Church in Saylorsburg.Doors open and food will be served at 6:30 p.m. Concert is at 7 p.m. Admission is free, and a love offering will be taken for the group. The group will visit the Knauf memorial on the Broad Mountain, all the cemeteries at the east end of Nesquehoning, and the bridge over the creek at Mermon Avenue. Members will continue to New Columbus to visit the Grotto and the Cherchario Monument, followed by Our Lady of Mount Carmel cemetery. The final stop on Sunday will the Hauto Memorial, located by the Hauto Fire Company.Polk Township: The Polk Township Veterans' Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. at the monument in Kresgeville, weather permitting. a.m.at the Nesquehoning Recreation Center on West Railroad Street and pull out at 8:30 a.m. The parade will stop at the VFW Monument at the intersection of Routes 209 and 54, where a wreath will be placed by Auxiliary President Cheri Santore, and a prayer and salute will be offered. They will continue to the Lions Club Monument and St. Patrick's Cemetery, where a prayer and volley will follow. The parade will continue to the VFW on East Center Street, where the main service will be held.
