A fire drill and more

Twenty fire companies from Schuylkill, Carbon, Lehigh and Northampton counties were involved in a massive drill in West Penn Township on Saturday.

The drill involved sustaining a constant water pressure and volume in a rural setting.Firefighters boasted that they maintained a constant flow of 1,000 gallons of water per minute, which is something usually only realized in a municipal setting using fire hydrants.A massive tanker shuttle task force was being maintained to carry water to the drill site along Route 309 atop the Blue Mountain.During the drill, the Community Fire Company of New Ringgold was dispatched to a working dwelling fire on Pine Valley Road. When firefighters from numerous companies arrived on scene in a remote area of the East Brunswick Township, they found smoke and flames flowing from the two-story single-family wood-frame dwelling.
