Orioles donate to local organizations

The Lehighton Orioles Nest 183 honored local veterans' organizations Sunday by giving each a $1,000 donation during its monthly breakfast.

Representatives from the Lehighton Area Middle School Red Cross Club, Valor Clinic Foundation, Lehighton United Veterans Organization, Lehighton AMVETS, Lehighton American Legion Post 314, and the Lehighton VFW were on hand to accept the checks.In the previous two months, the Orioles donated several thousand dollars to area police departments, fire departments and the state police Camp Cadet program.Orioles staff said the organization also recently donated to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, Family Promise, Franklin Township Athletic Association, Lehighton Ambulance, Lehighton Boys and Girls Band, Lehighton Memorial Library, Mahoning Valley Ambulance, Masonic Hall Association and the Trinity Food Pantry.
