Ex-towing contract pleads to fraud, gun, tax counts

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - A former northeastern Pennsylvania towing contractor has pleaded guilty to federal fraud, firearm and tax charges.

Forty-five-year-old Leo Glodzik III entered the plea Wednesday to counts of mail fraud, being a felon in possession of a firearm and filing false tax returns related to an exclusive towing contract he had with the city of Wilkes-Barre.In return for the plea, bank fraud charges were dismissed. Glodzik is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 16.Glodzik was earlier convicted of a felony theft charge in Luzerne County. Prosecutors said he stole $2,100 in bait money from a car during an FBI sting operation. He was acquitted of theft from a motor vehicle. Glodzik was paroled last fall after serving the minimum of a three- to 12-month term.
