The Pleasant Valley High School band concert will be presented at 7:30 tonight at the high school in Brodheadsville.Ridge SeniorsThe Chestnut Ridge Seniors social club will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Kunkletown Volunteer Fire Company in Kunkletown. W.E.L.L. clothing for sale, face painting, bounce houses and more.Chicken barbecueEffort UMC on Merwinsburg Road in Effort will be having its semiannual chicken barbecue dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The event was started in 1974 and is still featuring the same menu: Kaufmann's roast chicken half, mashed potatoes, corn and the church's secret recipe creamed cabbage (coleslaw) and applesauce. The meal also comes with a split top roll, whipped butter, homemade assorted desserts and one's choice of coffee, tea or lemonade.For costs call the church at 570-629-1890.
