Rep. Matt Cartwright of Lackawanna County, a Democrat representing the 17th Congressional District, was unopposed Tuesday and collected 4,497 token votes in pursuit of his second two-year term.

He will face Republican Matt Connolly of Northampton County in November. He defeated fellow county resident Glenn Geissinger Tuesday, including by a 2,679 to 1,561 margin among Carbon GOP voters.The 17th District includes the townships of East Penn, Franklin, Lower Towamensing, Mahoning and Towamensing and the boroughs of Bowmanstown, Jim Thorpe, Lansford, Lehighton, Nesquehoning, Palmerton, Parryville, Summit Hill and Weissport in Carbon County; all of Schuylkill County; and parts of Northampton, Luzerne, Lackawanna and Monroe counties, including Chestnuthill, Polk and Ross.In the 11th Congressional District, incumbent Republican Lou Barletta, former mayor of Hazleton, will face another former city mayor as he pursues another two-year term.Barletta was unopposed yesterday and received 2,347 complimentary votes from Republicans in Carbon County. His challenger, Democrat Mike Marsicano, was also unopposed and collected 1,314 token votes from county voters in the townships of Banks, Kidder, Lausanne, Lehigh, Packer and Penn Forest and the boroughs of Beaver Meadows, East Side and Weatherly.
