No ATVs allowed on Nesquehoning streets

Nesquehoning police remind people that driving all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes on borough streets is not permitted.

Chief Sean Smith said police have received complaints of ATVs being driven along Park Avenue and Industrial Road in the Hauto Valley Estates portion of the borough on weekends.Officer Carl Breiner cited three people Sunday along Park Avenue after he observed them speeding, passing cars and driving on roadways with vehicles prohibited on borough streets.Donley Kenyatta LaRosa, 18, of Allentown, who was driving a Kawasaki KX100 dirt bike, was cited for not having the bike insured; not wearing a helmet, which is required for people under the age of 21; not having the bike properly inspected or registered; and driving a vehicle on a public road while their driver's license is suspended.Justin A. Staats, 26, of Waverly, New York, who was driving a Yamaha ATV, was cited for operating the vehicle on a public road without insurance.Sergio Justin Velasquez Jr., 19, of Allentown, who was operating a Yamaha ATV, was cited for various offenses including not displaying the registration plate that was issued for the vehicle; operating an ATV on a public road; driving while driver's license is suspended; and for not having the ATV insured.Smith said if police see someone operating an off-road vehicle on a borough street, the driver will be cited and the vehicle will be impounded.
