The Tamaqua Senior High/Middle School Vocal Music Department will present its annual Spring Choral Program on Thursday. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium. Featured performances will be by the Middle School General and Select Chorus, as well as the Senior High Concert Choir, and the Jazz & Concert Chorale.

The Sixth Grade General Chorus will open the program with "Let There Be Music," followed by "Wings" and the One Direction pop hit "What Makes You Beautiful."The Seventh and Eighth Grade General Chorus will open their set with "Counting Stars" by One Republic. The chorus will then sing a tribute to our police officers, firefighters, and men and women in the armed services by singing "Song for the Unsung Hero." They close their set with "Rockstar" a pop anthem by the band A Great Big World.The Middle school Select Chorus will sing "Solfege Song" by Andy Beck and "The Journey" by Joseph Martin. The middle school portion of the concert closes with two pop selections "Fight Song" and "The Climb."The Jazz & Concert Chorale will take the stage next, singing a wide variety of musical styles and selections. The chorale will begin with "I'm Gonna Rise" an original gospel composition by Marvin Curtis. The women of the chorale will then sing "Say Something," a song made popular by pop band A Great Big World, while the men of the chorale will sing "The Best Day of My Life" by American Authors. They will then sing a jazz classic in "Over the Rainbow" and close their set with the timeless standard "Time After Time."The Concert Choir will close the program with "I Will Sing with the Spirit" by John Rutter, the classic American folk song "Shenandoah" and "One Day More" from the smash Broadway musical "Les Miserables." The concert will conclude with "Praise His Holy Name," a rousing spiritual written by Keith Hampton.Accompanists for the choirs are Antonetta Gerace, Patrick McMullen and Faith Roberts. The choirs are under the direction of John D. Buglio.Admission to the concert is $5 for adults and $3 for children and senior citizens. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:45 p.m.Art projects presented by middle school students from grades six through eight will be on display in the auditorium lobby beginning at 6:30 p.m. Kim Woodward is the middle school art teacher. There is no admission fee for the art show.
