A former Carbon County resident admitted in the county court on Tuesday to driving drunk with a young boy in her vehicle.

She was one of 15 defendants in pending drunken driving cases to enter a guilty plea to driving under the influence and related charges before Judge Joseph J. Matika.Lansford incidentSamantha Nicole Gulla, 30, of Bel Alton, Maryland, and formerly of Lansford, was stopped on July 5, 2015, along Bertsch Street by Lansford police.Police were originally dispatched for a domestic dispute and on scene spoke with Gulla, who had gone to a Bertsch Street residence with her 3-year-old son to see his father. She admitted driving to the residence with the child in the car while under the influence. She refused to submit to a blood test.Matika deferred sentencing so Gulla could obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Other pleasOther defendants who pleaded to DUI charges included:Daniel Zachary Shelly,32, of Port Royal, Juniata County, was arrested on Oct. 3, 2014, by Mahoning Township police in the parking lot of the McDonald's Restaurant. Police responded to a report of a person asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle. On scene police found Shelly asleep with the engine running. A test showed 0.17 BAC.Matika sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, zero tolerance for D&A use, and render 25 hours of community service. He began the jail term immediately.Derek Richard Reimiller, 32, of Weatherly, was arrested on Sept. 27, 2015, along Main Street by Weatherly police. A test showed 0.16 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he can obtain a comprehensive D&A evaluation.Justin R. Vavro, 35, of Lansford, was arrested on Dec. 28, 2015, along Catawissa Street by Nesquehoning police following a crash. A test showed 0.21 BAC.Matika sentenced him to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one-year license suspension, and render 25 hours of community service. He will begin the jail term at 4 p.m. April 24.Shannon Lee Fisher,35, of Kunkletown, was arrested on July 26, 2015, along Hudson Street in Packer Township by state police at Hazleton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so she could obtain a comprehensive D&A evaluation.Daniel Patrick Schultz, 54, of Margaretville, New York, was arrested on May 1, 2015, by Kidder Township police along Route 903. He refused to submit to a blood test.Sentencing was deferred so Schultz could obtain a D&A evaluation and also apply for placement in the Intermediate Punishment Program.Crystal S. Loar, 52, of Lehighton, was arrested on Feb. 7, 2015, along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive East by Mahoning Township police. A test showed 0.18 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so she could obtain a comprehensive D&A evaluation.Andrew Joseph Machinsky IV, 25, of Hazleton, was arrested on March 11, 2015, along Berwick Street by Beaver Meadows police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Matika sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. He was given credit for 21 days spent in the county prison on the charge and paroled.Terrance Lee Reason, 49, of Lansdowne, Delaware County, was arrested on Sept. 7, 2015, along Route 940 by Kidder Township police. He refused a blood test.Sentencing was deferred so Reason could obtain a D&A evaluation and apply for the IPP.Derrick Michael Boyland,35, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Dec. 5, 2015, along Route 1003 by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.14 BAC.Sentencing was deferred.Rose Marie Miller,34, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Dec. 17, 2015, along Route 903 by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.23 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so she could apply for the IPP.Desiree Louise Kaminitisky, 28, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Oct. 15, 2015, along Route 903 in Kidder Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed 0.13 BAC.She was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Glenn M. Sanford,54, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Dec. 31, 2015, along Route 534 by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.16 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a comprehensive D&A evaluation.Gervase J. Purcell III, 55, of Blakeslee, was arrested on Dec. 24, 2015, along Moseywood Road by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.21 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a D&A evaluation and apply for the IPP.Charlene Moyer, 50, of Hazleton, was arrested on Dec. 20, 2015, along New Street by Beaver Meadows police. A test showed 0.30 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so she could obtain a D&A evaluation.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
