A 31-year-old man who was seriously injured earlier this month after he was trapped under a garbage truck in Lehighton was a sanitation worker, police said.

The incident occurred the morning of Feb. 12 on South Queen Alley, just south of Mahoning Street.The garbage truck is owned by County Waste of Pennsylvania, which is contracted for trash removal by the borough.The victim was transported to the Jake Arner Memorial Airport in Mahoning Township, where he was flown to the St. Luke's Hospital Trauma Center in Bethlehem.Borough police said the man, whose identification was withheld because the investigation remains open, was scheduled to be released from the hospital Friday.
