Fly tying class

Schuylkill County Trout Unlimited will host its Third Annual Beginners Fly Tying Class at the Tamaqua Community Art Center. The class will be held from 1-4 p.m. March 6.Materials will be provided.Seating is limited, so registration is required. The free sessions are open to preschoolers between the ages of 2 and 5.Sessions will be held for 10 consecutive weeks, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, concluding in May. In addition to story reading/telling, participants will learn new songs, design special crafts and enjoy a snack. Younger siblings are welcome.For more information or to register a child for story time, stop in at the library or call 570-668-4660.Musical auditionsThe Tamaqua Area Community Theatre group will be holding auditions for its production of "Cinderella-Retold as a Musical Play" on March 5 and March 6. Auditions will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on March 5 and from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 6 at the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, 125 Pine St.The production needs 14 lead performers as well as several extras. Interested parties should be prepared to sing and offer a brief reading at their audition.Parts are available for those age 6 and up.Performances will be held on May 20 and May 21 at the art center.For more information, call 570-668-1192.Snow rulesTamaqua residents are reminded of borough rules concerning snow removal.Property owners are required to maintain a clear path, at least 3 feet wide, on sidewalks. Snow and ice must be removed from these pathways within 24 hours of the end of a snowstorm.Snow, ice and other materials may not be thrown into the streets. Fines of $25 and up may be imposed on anyone caught throwing snow or ice into the street, or who fails to maintain a snow-free pathway.People who plow snow from in front of homes and businesses must remove any piles of snow they create. Anyone piling snow in the street or parking areas could be cited.Residents are asked to refrain from piling snow near fire hydrants or on top of storm drains and are encouraged to clear snow from these areas. Ed Bean will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley.
