Cindy Miller is running for state representative for the 183rd District.

The seat is held by retiring Rep. Julie Harhart, and includes portions of Northampton and Lehigh counties.Miller said her top priority is to represent the views and concerns of the hardworking men and women who call Lehigh and Northampton counties home."We cannot sit back and do nothing while our families lose jobs and our seniors lose their retirement savings," Miller said. "I will put the needs of our communities first by working to keep the jobs we have and for the economic growth that creates new jobs, fighting for real property tax elimination, focusing on public health and safety, bringing fiscal discipline to government, and reforming the way Harrisburg works. I clearly understand the need for change."As a Lehigh Township supervisor, she has worked to revamp the budget process, develop a capital improvement plan, institute a road improvement plan, consolidate debt to save tax dollars, negotiate pension reform, and implement strong policies to make local government more transparent for taxpayers. She did this while focusing spending on priorities like public safety where she increased funding to better prepare the volunteer firefighters.Miller is a field representative for state Sen. Mario Scavello. In addition to navigating state and local government on behalf of constituents, she is responsible for the management and tracking of key legislation, including property tax reform, transportation, education and more.She is also a member of the Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce board of directors and serves on the Public Policy Committee of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.Miller attended Northern Lehigh/Slatington High School, before graduating from Shippensburg University and earning a Master in Business Administration from Wilkes University. She also has a paralegal certification from Pennsylvania State University.An active community leader, Miller is a past recipient of the Lehigh Valley Health Network Community Service Award.Miller resides in Lehigh Township with her husband Ray. They have been married 32 years, have two sons, Joshua and Andrew and two dogs, Amber and Autumn. She is a member of St. Nicholas Church.
