Carbon showcased at outdoor show

Economic development organizations from the four county Pocono Region and the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau hosted a luncheon for manufacturers of outdoor products at the Great American Outdoor Show at the State Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg this week.

The luncheon showcased the many benefits our region offers new and existing businesses. Directors from the four organizations - Carbon Chamber and Economic Development Corporation, Monroe County Economic Development, Pike County Economic Development and Wayne Economic Development Corp. - each spoke about the merits of locating a business within their county as well as the region in general."Crystal-clear lakes and rivers for fishing and abundant hunting on thousands of acres of state game lands including challenging outdoor sports in all four seasons call Carbon County Home, but our one greatest natural resource is our dedicated workforce," said Kathy Henderson, Director of Economic Development for the CCEDC. "International corporations as well as mom-and-pop shops within the county employ multigenerational employees."Northeast Pennsylvania is an enticing area for businesses boasting a growing workforce, proximity to the major metropolitan areas of New York, Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley and an offering of many four-season outdoor attractions and activities.Several state legislators including Rep. Doyle Heffley, and local county commissioners including Carbon County Commissioner Tom Gerhard attended the luncheon.
