A Taize Prayer Service will be held at 6 p.m. March 6 in the Church of All Saints, 21 N. Cleveland St., McAdoo.

Taize is a small village in the Burgundy region of France.It is home to the ecumenical community in the monastic tradition, founded during World War II by Brother Roger, whose prayer, three times each day, is at the center of their life.It is a place where visitors of all ages travel on pilgrimage to participate in international meetings of prayer and reflection.The songs of Taize are meant to help people take time in God's presence. They consist of small Scripture passages with easy melodies repeated over and over.They are sung low enough to allow distracted thoughts to calm down and for the words to sink in.The faithful are asked to join in the singing as they become comfortable with the melodies. During the service there are periods of silence for reflective meditation.
