Woman cited for threatening husband and his girlfriend

A Tamaqua woman was cited on Christmas Eve after making threats against her husband and his girlfriend.

Police were called to 74 Hunter St., Tamaqua, at 1:22 p.m. by James Ortiz, 45, who said his wife had "taken some pills." Officers spoke with Annette Ortiz, 56, who assured them she was fine. While talking to the officer, Annette Ortiz stated she was going to cut up her husband's clothing. She was advised not to take such action.Fifteen minutes later, James Ortiz called police again, saying his wife was cutting up his clothes, throwing them in the street, and threatening to hurt and kill him and his girlfriend. When officers arrived at the home, Annette Ortiz continued cutting up the clothing and tossing the pieces into the street. She threatened her husband, and his girlfriend, in front of the officer.When she refused to heed the officer's requests to stop her actions, she was arrested and transported to the Tamaqua Police Station.Annette Ortiz was cited for disorderly conduct and released.
