Sarah R. Yuskanish was recently honored at a surprise birthday party celebrating her 100th birthday at the Sacred Heart Villa in Reading, where she is now a resident.

She was a lifelong resident of Lansford before moving to Reading.Born Jan. 2, 1916, to the late Charles and Helen (Mikulka) Galgoci of Lansford, she was married to the late John E. Yuskanish for 64 years.Sarah was active in the church choir at St. Michael's Church, now St. Katharine Drexel Church, and was employed at Rosenau Brothers until her retirement.She has two daughters, Janice, wife of James Gieniec of Lehighton, and Irene Huegel of Newark, Delaware.She has four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
